Check My NAP Consistency

Mismatched NAP data is the quiet local SEO killer

A phone number that changed two office moves ago and never got updated on Yelp. A Facebook page still listing the old suite number. A Google Business Profile name that doesn’t quite match the website footer. None of it looks urgent day to day, but Google cross-checks your name, address, and phone across the web to decide how much to trust your listing, and customers bounce the moment the numbers don’t match what they see on the map. This matters more for multi-location businesses and regulated-industry clients than most realize — directories, review sites, and Google all need to agree, or referral sources quietly get sent to the wrong location.

This free check walks through the same NAP consistency questions we run before any local SEO or citation campaign starts for a client, so you know exactly where the gaps are before they quietly cost you rankings and calls.

Scoring your answers against local citation best practices…

This tool is a self-report checklist based on your own answers, not an automated scan of your actual listings. It does not verify data on Google, Yelp, Facebook, or any directory directly, treat a high-risk result as a prompt to go check those listings yourself, not a confirmed diagnosis.

The Four Scoring Categories

Canonical NAP Defined
Whether one written, official version of your business name, address, and phone number exists to copy from everywhere, including consistent address suppression if you’re a service-area business.
Core Platforms
Whether Google Business Profile, your website, and Facebook all match the canonical NAP exactly, the three places customers and Google check first.
Directory Consistency
Whether Yelp, Apple Maps or Bing Places, and at least one industry or local directory have been checked for matching NAP data.
Maintenance Process
Whether NAP changes get tracked with a documented update list, and whether old or duplicate listings carrying outdated info get checked for periodically.

Key Terms

NAP (Name, Address, Phone)
The core identity details for a business that must match exactly across its website, Google Business Profile, and every directory listing.
Citation
Any online mention of a business's NAP, whether or not it links back to the business's own website — directories, review sites, and chamber listings all count.
Service Area Business (SAB)
A business that travels to customers instead of serving them at a storefront, which Google allows to hide its street address on its Business Profile.
Google Business Profile (GBP)
The free Google listing that shows a business's NAP, hours, and reviews across Maps and local search results.
Duplicate Listing
A second, unmanaged profile for the same business created by directory auto-imports or old data, which splits reviews and confuses NAP consistency.

Local Citation & NAP Consistency Checker FAQ

Does this tool actually scan my listings?

No, and we want to be clear about that. This is a self-report checklist based on your own answers, not an automated scan of Google, Yelp, Facebook, or any directory. Think of it as a fast way to spot where you likely have gaps, then go check those listings yourself.

What exactly does it check?

It checks ten questions across whether you have one canonical NAP version, whether your core platforms (Google Business Profile, website, Facebook) match it, whether major directories have been checked for consistency, and whether you have a process for catching NAP drift over time.

What is NAP consistency and why does it matter?

NAP stands for Name, Address, and Phone number. Google and other search engines cross-check these details across the web to judge how trustworthy and current a business listing is. Mismatched NAP data, an old address on one site, a disconnected phone number on another, can quietly suppress local rankings and cost you customers who get confused or give up.

I’m a service-area business without a storefront. Does a hidden address count against me?

No. A suppressed address is completely normal for service-area businesses and isn’t treated as an inconsistency by itself. What matters is that the suppression is handled the same way on every listing, not shown on some platforms and hidden on others.

Is this really free?

Yes. Answer the questions and enter your email, and you get your results immediately. No credit card and no sales call required to see your score.

What do you do with my answers and email?

Your answers are used only to generate your consistency score and are not stored beyond your result. Your email is used to send your results and, occasionally, related local SEO content. You can unsubscribe at any time.

What if my score comes back as high risk?

A high-risk score usually points to a specific, fixable gap, most often a platform or directory that was never updated after a move or a phone number change. Your results include a plain-English list of what was flagged, and we recommend working through those listings one at a time, starting with Google Business Profile, your website, and Facebook.
