Free URL Canonicalization & Redirect Consistency Checker

Check whether your http/https, www/non-www, trailing-slash, and canonical tag setup all point browsers and Google to one single, consistent address. Free, one URL, no login.

Check My URLs

One page, four different addresses, is a silent ranking leak

http://yoursite.com, https://yoursite.com, https://www.yoursite.com, and https://yoursite.com/page/ (with a trailing slash) versus without one — if more than one of these independently loads the same content instead of redirecting to a single canonical version, search engines see multiple separate pages competing for the same ranking signal, not one strong page. Regulated-industry and political-campaign sites we audit accumulate this kind of drift fastest, since legally-reviewed pages get duplicated across subdomains or landing pages and nobody circles back to canonicalize them.

This free check fetches every variant of your URL, walks the actual redirect chain, and reads your canonical tag — the same consistency check we run before any client site goes live — so you know exactly what to fix before it quietly costs you rankings.

Fetching your site’s http/https and www/non-www variants and checking redirect consistency…

This tool checks redirect behavior and canonical signals for the single URL fetched, at the moment it was fetched. It does not crawl your whole site and cannot detect canonicalization rules that only apply conditionally. Treat a high-risk result as a prompt to review your redirect/canonical configuration sitewide, not a certified SEO audit.

The Four Scoring Categories

HTTP → HTTPS Enforcement
Whether plain http:// cleanly and permanently redirects straight to https, or serves real content unencrypted.
WWW / Non-WWW Consistency
Whether the www and non-www versions of your site both independently load content, or one properly redirects to the other.
Canonical Tag Consistency
Whether your page declares a canonical tag at all, and whether it actually matches the page’s own resolved address.
Trailing Slash & Mixed-Content Consistency
Whether a trailing-slash and non-trailing-slash version of the same URL both load independently, and whether any literal http:// assets remain despite HTTPS being enforced.

Key Terms

Canonical URL
The single, preferred version of a page's URL that a search engine chooses to index when duplicate versions exist.
Redirect Chain
A series of multiple redirects a browser must follow before landing on the final URL, which slows load time and wastes crawl budget.
WWW vs Non-WWW
The two ways a domain can be written, which must consistently redirect to one preferred version to avoid duplicate URLs.
Trailing Slash
The '/' at the end of a URL path, which some servers treat as a separate URL from the version without it unless redirected.
HTTP vs HTTPS
The unsecured and secured versions of a URL's protocol; the HTTP version should always redirect to HTTPS.

URL Canonicalization Checker FAQ

Is this a full technical SEO audit?

No, and we want to be very clear about that. This tool checks redirect behavior and canonical signals for the single URL you submit, at the moment it was fetched. It does not crawl your whole site, does not check every page for consistency, and is not a substitute for a full technical SEO audit.

What exactly does it check?

It checks four things: whether plain http:// permanently redirects to https in a single clean hop, whether the www and non-www versions of your site both independently load content or one properly redirects to the other, whether your canonical tag exists and matches the page's own resolved address, and whether a trailing-slash and non-trailing-slash version of the same URL both load independently.

Why does having two working URLs for the same page matter?

Search engines treat http://yoursite.com, https://yoursite.com, https://www.yoursite.com, and trailing-slash variants as separate pages unless you tell them otherwise. Every one of those "duplicates" that stays live splits your ranking signal instead of consolidating it onto one strong page.

Can this replace a real technical SEO crawl?

No. This checks one URL's redirect and canonical behavior, not your whole site's URL structure. Use it as a fast first pass, then run a full-site crawl if you want complete coverage.

Can I check a page that requires a login?

No. The tool can only read pages that are publicly reachable, and it blocks local and internal addresses for security reasons.

Is this really free?

Yes. Enter a URL and your email, and you get your results immediately. No credit card and no sales call required to see your score.

What do you do with my URL and email?

Your URL is used only to fetch and score that one page and is not stored beyond your result. Your email is used to send your results and, occasionally, related site-SEO content. You can unsubscribe at any time.

What if my score comes back as high risk?

A high-risk score usually points to a specific, fixable redirect or canonical-tag gap, most often a missing www/non-www redirect or a plain http:// page that never forces HTTPS. Your results include a plain-English list of what was flagged in each category, and you are welcome to book a free strategy call if you want help prioritizing fixes.
