Multi-location SEO lives and dies on genuine differentiation

Franchises, multi-location clinics, and service-area businesses all fall into the same trap: build one location page, copy it for the next city, swap the name and a couple of local nouns, and call it done. Search engines have gotten very good at spotting that pattern, and it can quietly suppress every page in the set instead of just the newest one. We see this pattern most in multi-location regulated-industry and franchise clients, where a corporate template gets rolled out to five locations and Google can’t tell them apart, so none of them rank.

This free check compares the location or service-area pages you give us and flags how templated they read, the same signal we look for before publishing any multi-location rollout for a client.

Fetching your pages and comparing them for duplicate content risk…

This tool compares stripped body text across the pages you provide using a sentence-level near-duplicate heuristic. It is not a plagiarism or Copyscape-grade text-diff tool, cannot see JS-rendered content, and does not fetch pages beyond the ones you list. Treat a high-risk result as a prompt to rewrite location pages with real local detail, not a certified duplicate-content citation.

The Four Scoring Categories

Cross-Page Content Similarity
Whether the body text across your pages reads as substantially the same template with only the city or location name swapped.
Duplicate Meta / Title Signals
Whether two or more of your pages share an identical or near-identical page title or meta description, an unambiguous duplicate-content signal to search engines.
Location-Specific Differentiation
Whether each page has real, unique content written for that specific location, or whether word counts and content are suspiciously uniform across the set.
Thin Content Risk
Whether any page's body content falls below the word count generally considered too thin to rank well on its own.

Key Terms

Duplicate Content
Identical or near-identical text appearing on multiple URLs, which can confuse search engines about which page to rank.
Boilerplate Text
The repeated header, footer, and sidebar copy that appears on every page of a site, unrelated to that page's own content.
Canonical Tag
An HTML tag that tells search engines which version of a set of similar or duplicate pages is the master copy to index.
Location Page
A page built for one specific business location, often templated and reused across a multi-location business's site.
Content Uniqueness Ratio
The share of a page's text that isn't shared boilerplate, used to gauge how much real, page-specific content it has.

Multi-Location Duplicate Content Checker FAQ

Is this a Copyscape-grade plagiarism checker?

No, and we want to be very clear about that. This compares stripped body text across the pages you list using a sentence-level near-duplicate heuristic. It is a fast, honest proxy for “how templated does this look,” not a forensic plagiarism or duplicate-content certification.

What exactly does it check?

It checks four things: how similar the body text reads across the pages you provide, whether two or more pages share a duplicate title or meta description, whether each page has genuinely unique location-specific content, and whether any page is thin enough on word count to be a ranking risk on its own.

How many URLs do I need to check?

At least two, since there is nothing to compare with only one page. You can enter up to five location or service-area pages from the same business in a single check.

Why is duplicate content risky for multi-location sites specifically?

Search engines can treat a set of near-identical location pages as duplicate content, and instead of ranking your best page for each city, they may suppress most of the set or pick the wrong one to show. A handful of genuinely unique paragraphs per page, real local landmarks, real local detail, is usually enough to fix it.

Can I check a page that requires a login?

No. The tool can only read pages that are publicly reachable, and it blocks local and internal addresses for security reasons.

Is this really free?

Yes. Enter your URLs and your email, and you get your results immediately. No credit card and no sales call required to see your score.

What do you do with my URLs and email?

Your URLs are used only to fetch and compare those pages and are not stored beyond your result. Your email is used to send your results and, occasionally, related local SEO and content strategy resources. You can unsubscribe at any time.

What if my score comes back as high risk?

A high-risk score usually means your location pages need real, unique local content rewritten into them, not a full rebuild. Your results include a plain-English list of what was flagged in each category, and you are welcome to book a free strategy call if you want help fixing it.
